How to Search Yavapai County Inmates
The YCSO Online Inmate Search is the official tool for current jail bookings in Yavapai County. The page is hosted on the county's own apps domain. It is free. No account is needed. The form asks for a last name and returns a list of matches in custody at either the Camp Verde Detention Center or the Prescott Detention Center. A data freshness timestamp sits on the page so the reader knows how current the list is.
Use the steps below to run a clean lookup. The portal is light on filters, so spelling and timing matter more than they would on a full case-management system.
- Open the YCSO Online Inmate Search in a normal browser. The page is titled "YCSO Inmate Search" with a visible heading of "Online Inmate Search."
- Type the last name of the person you are looking for in the only text field on the form. The field holds up to 26 characters.
- Click the Search button. The page reloads with current matches in YCSO custody.
- Check the data freshness line near the top of the page so you know when the list was last refreshed.
- If you do not find a match, recheck spelling, drop suffixes, or try a maiden name. A John Doe or Jane Doe booking will not appear under a real name until fingerprint identification is complete.
- If you still cannot find the person, call the Detention Facility Information Line at (928) 567-7734 for help.
The Detention Services Division hub at ycsoaz.gov ties together the search, intake, visitation, mail, money, and release pages. The screenshot below points to the same hub.

The hub page is the easiest place to find current detention policies because every related YCSO subpage is linked from it.
YCSO Inmate Search Fields
The official inmate search uses a single-input form. There are no dropdowns for facility, race, gender, or booking date. The portal asks for one name field and a submit button. The table below maps the fields visible on the public form. Source: apps.yavapaiaz.gov/InmateSearch.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text input | Yes | Field name txtLastName. Size 26, maxlength 26 characters. |
| Search | Submit button | Yes | Button label "Search." Triggers the lookup against current jail data. |
| Data freshness | Page notice | N/A | "Information is accurate as of [timestamp]." Refresh varies, so check before relying on results. |
| John/Jane Doe notice | Page notice | N/A | Persons booked as John or Jane Doe cannot post bail until fingerprint identification is complete. |
A first-name field would help narrow common last names, but it is not part of the public form. Use shorter last-name strings, like the first six letters, when you are not sure of the full spelling.
What the YCSO Search Page Actually Asks For
The Online Inmate Search keeps the public interface small on purpose. The only required input is a last name. There is no booking-number field, no date range, no charge filter, and no facility picker. That is unusual compared with bigger county rosters, but it works because YCSO holds people in only two adult detention centers. A short name string is enough to surface most current bookings.
Two on-page notices matter. The data freshness line tells the reader when the roster was last updated. The John or Jane Doe notice tells the reader that a person booked without confirmed identification cannot post bail until YCSO completes fingerprint identification through the Detention Services intake process. Families calling about a Doe booking should call the Detention Facility Information Line and provide identifying details so staff can match the record.
Note: Same-day bookings and same-day releases may not show on the public search right away because the page reflects a stored snapshot rather than a live feed.
What a Yavapai County Inmate Record Shows
The public landing form is the only screen captured from the official source during research. A live result profile was not captured, so the field list below is a general guide to what most county jail profiles include. Do not assume the YCSO public view shows mugshots, height, weight, bond per charge, housing pod, warrant number, or scheduled court date unless those fields are confirmed on the live page. | Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Inmate Name | Last name and first name as booked. A John Doe or Jane Doe label may appear when identification is pending. |
| Booking Date | The date YCSO took the person into custody at one of the two detention centers. |
| Charges | Free-text charge description tied to the booking event. Charges may be added, dropped, or amended later by the court. |
| Custody Status | Whether the person is still in YCSO custody at the time of the page load. |
| Facility | Camp Verde Detention Center or Prescott Detention Center. |
| Data Timestamp | Top-of-page line that shows how current the roster snapshot is. |
For court dates and case-level details, switch to a court system search. Most felony cases route through Yavapai County Superior Court, and lower-level matters route through one of the five Justice Courts. The court records page covers Public Access Case Lookup and eAccess.

Sheriff David Rhodes leads the office. His bio at ycsoaz.gov describes a 28-year career with YCSO, with stops as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Chief Deputy, Commander, and head of the Northern Arizona Regional Training Academy. The Sheriff is also tied to founding the Reach Out program, Crisis Intervention Training, Post-Arrest Diversion, and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

The official detention page is the safest source for current phone, fax, and address. Phone trees can change. The web page is updated by YCSO directly.
Booking and Intake at Yavapai County Jails
Booking happens after an arrest by YCSO, a city police agency, or a state agency operating in the county. The YCSO Intake and Release page also covers court-ordered self-surrender. The intake officer takes basic identifiers, photos, and fingerprints. Classification follows. Personal items are inventoried and stored. The county jail provides clothing, footwear, hygiene items, and linens, so the person being booked does not need to bring those.
The official intake page lists items not to bring. The list is broad. Keep it short and clean when self-surrendering.
- No suitcases, extra clothing, linen, or musical instruments.
- No toiletries, makeup, jewelry, or mechanical devices.
- No books, writing materials, stamps, checkbooks, or crafts.
- No knives, candy, cigarettes, or cell phones.
- No over-the-counter medication. Prescription handling is done by Medical Services.
Meals at the jail carry a $2.00 daily charge under A.R.S. ยง 31-121. Commissary items must be obtained through the jail for security. The screenshot below points to the official intake page.

People being booked usually move through medical and mental health screening, then classification, then housing assignment. Reach Out screens every entrant within 36 hours.
Posting Bond at Yavapai County Jails
Bond can be posted three ways. In person at either jail, 24 hours a day. In person at the court of jurisdiction during business hours. Or through GovPay using the YCSO Pay Location Code. Each route requires the arrestee or defendant name and the bond amount set by the court. A John or Jane Doe booking blocks bail until fingerprint identification is complete.
GovPay details from the YCSO support page:
- Pay Location Code: A001YN.
- Required input: payment amount and arrestee or defendant name.
- Phone payment: 1-877-EZBAIL5 or 1-877-392-2455.
- 24-hour in-person posting is available at the Camp Verde Detention Center and the Prescott Detention Center.
The arresting agency and the court of jurisdiction set the bond amount. The detention center holds the money or processes the GovPay receipt. Receipts should be kept. For warrant questions, see the Yavapai County warrant records page. For underlying charges and case tracking, see the criminal records page.
Visitation at Yavapai County Detention Centers
YCSO runs on-site video visitation Monday through Friday at both detention centers. No on-site visits run on holidays. Each session is limited to 20 minutes. Schedule at least 1 day and up to 14 days in advance, online or in person during visitation hours. On-site video visits are free. Remote internet video visits run through Securus and carry a small charge.
| Day | Hours | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. | On-site video, no charge |
| Tuesday | 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. | On-site video, no charge |
| Wednesday | 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. | On-site video, no charge |
| Thursday | 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. | On-site video, no charge |
| Friday | 12:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. | On-site video, no charge |
| Saturday | Closed on-site | Remote Securus only |
| Sunday | Closed on-site | Remote Securus only |
Camp Verde uses a specially constructed video-monitor building next to the detention center. Prescott uses the new facility's on-site video station, and visitors check in at the Sheriff's Office public lobby by the flagpoles. Holidays close on-site visits. Internet-based Securus video visits can run from home computers when the inmate's housing allows and the schedule is open.

Mail Rules at Yavapai County Jails
Send mail to the inmate's name at 2830 N Commonwealth Drive, Suite 105, Camp Verde, AZ 86322. Only handwritten or typed letters, approved electronic messages, and approved publications sent by approved methods are accepted. Packages other than approved publications are rejected. Rejected mail is placed in inmate property, and the sender may informally appeal to the Housing Services Bureau Commander within 7 days.
The official prohibited list is long. Most rejections come from items on this list:
- Polaroid photos, blank paper or envelopes, photocopies, internet prints, staples, stamps, and postcards.
- Clippings, laminated items, magazines, and most periodicals.
- Greeting cards, except up to three Christmas cards per inmate from December 1 through December 31.
- Colored or stationery paper, except yellow legal pad paper.
- Scented correspondence, gel ink, crayon, paint, glitter, stickers, adhesive, and tape.
- Inflammatory material and sexually oriented or pornographic content.
Books and other publications must ship directly from a recognized publisher, distributor, or authorized retailer. They must be paperback and prepaid, with no staples, no laminated content, and no banned materials. Dictionaries, puzzle books, coloring books, and catalogs are rejected as publications.
Note: Typed letters must use black ink, and handwritten letters must use pencil or blue or black ballpoint pen.
Phone, Electronic Messaging, and Commissary
Inmates make outgoing calls from housing units. Incoming calls are not allowed except in verified emergencies. Messages are not relayed to inmates outside of verified emergencies. Securus handles individual prepaid and inmate phone accounts. Securus and JPay also handle electronic messages and trust-fund deposits.
YCSO does not accept checks or money orders through the mail. Deposits run through the official vendors:
- JPay or Securus online and mobile deposits.
- Deposit kiosks at the Camp Verde and Prescott YCSO locations. Kiosks take $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills and MasterCard or Visa credit or debit cards.
- Phone deposits: 800-574-5729.
- Aramark iCare care packages, activated in July 2022, for limited items shipped through the program.
Commissary itself is fulfilled through the jail. Per YCSO policy, clothing, footwear, hygiene items, and linens are provided by the jail, so commissary tends to cover snacks, hygiene upgrades, and approved goods through the in-jail provider.
Inmate Services and Reach Out Program
YCSO publishes a programs list at Inmate Services. The list covers religious studies, high school equivalency, and behavioral health services. Some programs run in person with volunteers. Others run on tablets with self-help courses, guided coursework, and reading material. The jail also coordinates with outside service providers as part of release planning.
The Reach Out program is the most prominent inmate service. It screens every jail entrant within 36 hours. It coordinates treatment options for mental health and substance use. It connects services. It supports family contact and reintegration planning. The point is to lower the chance the same person comes back to jail in the months after release.
The county plans a Yavapai Reentry and Connections Center tied to the new Criminal Justice Center and the Camp Verde remodel. The official YCSO description includes onsite agency intakes, assessments, care management, behavioral health, housing, veteran, employment, and transportation support. A 12-bed inpatient psychiatric unit is part of the plan. For data on currently held people and where they are routed after release, see the inmate population page and the released inmates page.
Avoiding Inmate Payment Scams
On October 15, 2025, YCSO issued a public warning about an active scam targeting families of inmates. The warning is direct. YCSO never calls, emails, or texts the public to request money for inmate programs, fines, warrants, or release conditions. Any call demanding payment to release a relative or clear a warrant is not from the Sheriff's Office.
YCSO scam warning: The Sheriff's Office will not phone, email, or text to ask for money tied to an inmate. Use only the official YCSO Inmate Search, official Securus and JPay channels, the Aramark iCare program, and GovPay with Pay Location Code A001YN.
Bond posting belongs at the detention center, the court of jurisdiction during business hours, or through GovPay with the correct Pay Location Code. Care packages run through Aramark iCare. Deposits run through JPay or Securus or the deposit kiosks. If anyone outside those channels asks for money, hang up, save the number, and report it to YCSO at (928) 771-3260. For broader public-records questions about an underlying case, the court records page and the FAQ page are the next stops.
